TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State faced Cal Poly Humboldt this evening, claiming the win 62-56.
Alyssa Premo led in scoring for the Warriors with a career high 18 points, followed by
Da'Myiah Lewis with 15 and
Daja Scott-Mitchell with nine points.
FIRST QUARTER: Cal Poly Humboldt (3-8, 2-3 CCAA) opened scoring with a three from Kendall Pickford, which was immediately answered by
Alyssa Premo with a jumper in the paint. The teams continued to trade points, with five points from
Daja Scott-Mitchell, ending the period with the score tied 14-14.

SECOND QUARTER: After two minutes of defense on both sides, Stan State (4-7, 3-2) took the first lead off a jumper beyond the arch from
Alyssa Premo. The Lumberjacks tied it back up with a three of their own, but
Amya Vangkham-Griffin quickly went down and scored a three to bring the score back in the Warriors' favor. Stan State maintained the three point lead to finish the half up 24-21.
THIRD QUARTER: The Warriors pressed their advantage, scoring two three-pointers to start off the second half. Although the Lumberjacks attempted to respond, Stan State managed to keep getting back to nine-point lead throughout the period.
Alyssa Premo made a jumper at the end of the quarter to give the Warriors an 11-point lead, going into the final quarter 38-27.

FOURTH QUARTER: Stan State extended their lead to 14 before Cal Poly Humboldt began to start chipping away. The Lumberjacks brought their deficit down to just five points, but a series of fouls in the last two minutes of the game went mostly the way of the Warriors, giving Stan State the edge as they made more of their free throws than the Lumberjacks. Stan State finished the period and the game ahead 62-56.

PREMO'S BIG NIGHT: Alyssa Premo notched several new career highs in tonight's game, including 18 points. She also recorded a new high in rebounds with six and assists with three. Â

DEFENSIVE STANCE: The Warriors held Cal Poly Humboldt to 33.3% shooting in the first quarter and under 30% for the next two quarters, with the Lumberjacks shooting just 15.4% from the field in the third quarter.

BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL: Daja Scott-Mitchell was just shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Eight of those rebounds were defensive. Scott-Mitchell also added two steals, a block, and an assist to her totals tonight.

th, Stan State hosts Chico State at 1:00 p.m. The Warriors start on another four-game road trip on Thursday, January 9
th where they travel to San Francisco State for a game at 5:30 p.m. The following Saturday, January 11
th, they will be visiting Cal State East Bay for a game with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
