LOS ANGELES, Calif.--- Stanislaus State started its season long five-game road trip this evening with a 75-63 loss at Cal State Los Angeles.
Jeremiah Jones and
Jonathan Tchengang each chipped in 13 points to lead the Warriors while
Jason Zimmer chipped in 10 points off the bench. The Warriors won the battle of the boards this evening, 36-28, in the loss with Tchengang leading the way with seven rebounds.
FIRST HALF: Stan State (4-4, 1-1 CCAA) took an early 12-3 lead on a
Jeremiah Jones lay-up off a
William Chavarin assist in the first four and a half minutes of the game. Cal State Los Angeles cut its deficit to 12-10 in the next three minutes. Jones' trey off a
Daniel Ameyaw pass capped an 8-0 run by the Warriors as they took a 20-10 lead. The Golden Eagles finished the half outscoring their guests 23-11 to take a 33-31 lead into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: Cal State Los Angeles (3-4, 1-1 CCAA) started the second half outscoring the Warriors 11-4 to take a 44-35 lead in the first three minutes of the new stanza. The Golden Eagles increased their lead to 50-38 on a Corey Cofield II three-point field goal.
Jason Zimmer's three off a pass from
Cameron Walker cut the Warrior deficit to 51-44 with 13 minutes left in the half. Cal State Los Angeles outscored the Warriors 13-4 in the next five minutes to take a 64-48 lead. The closest that the Warriors would get in the final ten minutes of the game was 12 points (75-63) which was the final score of the game.
BATTLE OF THE BOARDS: Stan State won the battle of the boards this evening 36-28 led by
Jeremiah Jones' seven rebounds.
William Chavarin grabbed six rebounds and
Daniel Ameyaw had five.
THREE IN DOUBLE DIGITS: Three players scored in double digits for the Warriors this evening.
Jeremiah Jones and
Jonathan Tchengang each chipped in 13 points.

UP NEXT: Stan State continues its road trip this Saturday, December 7 with a 3:00 p.m. CCAA road game in Carson, Calif., against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Toros defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 77-68 this evening in Carson. After Saturday's game in Carson, Stan State will travel to San Francisco, Calif., for a 7:00 p.m. exhibition game at the University of San Francisco on Wednesday, December 11. They will finish off the calendar year the following week with a conference game in Seaside, Calif., at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21 with Cal State Monterey Bay and an exhibition game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22 at Sacramento State.
