LOS ANGELES, Calif.--- Stan State (2-5, 1-1 CCAA) faced Cal State Los Angeles (5-1, 1-1 CCAA) this evening, falling short 79-62.
Talia Maxwell led the Warriors' scoring tonight with 18 points, followed by
Da'Myiah Lewis with 14 and
Kalyn Harris's career-high 13 points.
FIRST QUARTER: Da'Myiah Lewis opened the game with a jumper, though Cal State Los Angeles responded quickly and aggressively. Stan State put up points from
Quinn Garrett and
Kalyn Harris, but the Golden Eagles held their lead. Blocks from
Talia Maxwell and two steals from
Jadyn Patterson kept Cal State Los Angeles from pulling away.

SECOND QUARTER: Stan State came out shooting while also keeping the Golden Eagles at bay. 25 points for the quarter, including nine from the bench, allowed Stan State to lead by one at the half. A strong defense held Cal State LA to shooting just 11.8% from the field.
THIRD QUARTER: The Golden Eagles traded points with Stan State in the first half of the quarter, with the lead swapping between the teams. Cal State LA began to find a rhythm, going on an eight-point run, before the Warriors closed out the quarter with a three from
Jadyn Patterson and
Daja Scott-Mitchell.

FOURTH QUARTER: Cal State LA continued to play hard, with Stan State attempting keep up. Stan State pressed for the lead with jumpers, but the Golden Eagles played a strong defensive game. Though the Warriors tried to close the gap, Cal State Los Angeles claimed the game.

BENCH STRENGTH: Stan State's bench had another great performance, outscoring the Golden Eagles' bench 22-11.
Kalyn Harris,
Daja Scott-Mitchell, and
Amya Vangkham-Griffin added three steals, two assists, and two blocks to their points as well. Â Â

DEFENSIVE STANCE: Cal State Los Angeles was held to 34.2% shooting from the field, with the second period proving to be the strongest defensively for the Warriors. Their six blocks and nine steals helped prevent shots, while 32 defensive rebounds gave the offense the chance they needed to score.

BIG NIGHT FOR HARRIS: Kalyn Harris's 13 points is a career-high for the sophomore. She added new career-highs in field goals made (six) as well as a season-high rebounds (six).

PATTERSON'S PLAYS: Jadyn Patterson notched new season-highs of her own tonight. Patterson's five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals were all new highs for her.
