Stan State Comes Up Short Versus No. 12 Cal State Dominguez Hills

CARSON, Calif.--- Stan State (2-6, 1-2 CCAA) played against no. 12 Cal State Dominguez Hills (10-0, 3-0 CCAA) this afternoon, 81-61. The Warriors' scoring was led by Talia Maxwell with 19, Da'Myiah Lewis with 17, and Kalyn Harris with 10.

FIRST QUARTER: Despite Cal State Dominguez Hills getting out to an early lead, Stan State responded well with shots from Da'Myiah Lewis and Talia Maxwell. A jumper from Kalyn Harris brought the game even, continuing the Warriors' momentum. For the last three minutes of the quarter, Stan State held the Toros to just two free throws, ending the period with a two-point lead.

SECOND QUARTER: Both defenses played well with no score in the first two minutes of the quarter. The Toros finally pushed through, scoring seven before the Warriors responded. From there, the two teams traded points, with Stan State refusing to allow Cal State Dominguez Hills to extend their lead.

THIRD QUARTER: Da'Myiah Lewis got Stan State out to a strong start, scoring five points early. The Toros were not stunned for long and retaliated with points of their own. Though Cal State Dominguez Hills began to pull away, the Warriors still found opportunities to score.

FOURTH QUARTER: The Toros were aggressive, finding ways to shoot in the paint and outside the arch. Jumpers from Daja Scott-Mitchell and Da'Myiah Lewis helped Stan State keep up with them in the first half of the quarter, but Cal State Dominguez Hills found an opening in the second half of the quarter to claim the game.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR HARRIS: Kalyn Harris recorded her first double-double of the season and her career tonight. Harris's career-high and team-leading 11 rebounds coupled with her 10 points earned her another career night.
