TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State is now one game out of fourth place after a 71-47 victory over the visiting Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks this evening on Homecoming night at The Fitz. The Warriors used a total team to earn the victory with four Warriors in double digits led by
Mya Blake's 17 points.
Talia Maxwell chipped in 14 points and
Liliana Marques added 11 points.
FIRST QUARTER: Stan State (14-14, 9-9 CCAA) scored the first six points of the game keyed by back-to-back lay-ups by
Talia Maxwell. A trey by Kenya Edelhart cut the Warrior lead to 9-8 mid-way through the first quarter. The Warriors finished the quarter outscoring the Jacks 6-2 to take a 15-10 lead heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: The hosts increased their lead 20-10 on a Jaydn Patterson trey off a
Taylor Pilot to begin the second quarter. Cal Poly Humboldt (10-12, 8-10 CCAA) cut the Warrior lead to 26-19 on a jumper by Kenya Edelhart with three minutes left in the half. Once again, the Warriors finished the quarter outscoring their guests 5-3 to take a 31-22 lead heading into the half.
THIRD QUARTER: Talia Maxwell's free throws capped an 8-0 run by the Warriors to begin the half to increase their lead to 39-22. The 'Jacks cut the Warrior lead to 45-33 with three minutes left in the third quarter.
Mya Blake's free throw capped a mini 5-0 run by the hosts as they took a 50-33 lead. Stan State took a 51-36 heading into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Iman Addison's free throws gave Stan State a 57-37 lead three minutes into the fourth quarter.
Mya Blake's free throws increased Stan State's lead to 69-44 with just 42 seconds to go in regulation as the Warriors held on for the 71-47 victory.
BLAKE JUST THREE AWAY: Mya Blake is just three-points away from 1,000-points in her career. She scored 611 points in her two years at SF State and has 386 in her first year as a Warrior.
ONE-GAME OUT: Stan State is now 9-9 in the CCAA and in seventh place in the CCAA regular season standings with four games left in the regular season. The Warriors are one game out of fourth place as Cal State L.A., Cal State Dominguez Hills, and Cal State San Bernardino are in a three-way tie for fourth place.
13 STEALS: The Warriors had 13 steals this evening led by
Mya Blake with four and
Taylor Pilot with three.
Joia Armstrong and
Liliana Marques each recorded two steals.
Talia Maxwell and
Iman Addison each had one steal.
