TURLOCK, Calif.--- Simon Fraser scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to key the Red Leaf's 9-0 victory over Stan State in a non-conference game at Warrior Field. Game two was suspended after four complete due the rain and lightning in the Valley. It is tentatively scheduled to be continued tomorrow at a site and time to be determined.
The Red Leafs (4-6) scored eight runs on six hits in their first at bat. They added another run in their half of the fourth inning. Megan Ducios had a lead-off bunt single. She went to second on a ground out to second by Grace McMillan. She stole third and scored on a triple to right center by Abby McGlynn to increase their lead to 9-1.
Stan State (1-9) had a chance to cut into the deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out, Lauren Serda had a single. She went to second on a two-out single by
Kaylee Heath. Both runners were stranded as the Red Leaf's starting pitcher, Monica Bourque, induced the next Warrior batter to ground out to first to end the scoring threat.
The Warriors had another chance to score in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Faith Erb had a lead-off single, but was out when
Katie Thornsberry grounded into a fielder's choice. With two outs, Thornsberry advanced to second on a passed ball, but the Warrior next batter grounded out to second ot preserve the run ruled 9-0 victory for the visitors.
STAN STATE PITCHERS: Shelby Frutoz (0-4) suffered the loss, pitching 0.2 innings, giving up five hits and six runs (one earned).
Sasha Martello pitched the final 4.1 innings, giving up five hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out two.
WARRIOR PITCHERS: Seven different Warriors had one hit a piece in

UP NEXT: The two teams are scheduled tentatively to continue the suspended game tomorrow at a site and time to be determined. After tomorrow, Stan State will travel to Carson to face Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four-game series beginning this Friday, February 23 with a noon starting doubleheader.
