TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State's rally from a 13-point deficit fell short as Cal Poly Pomona took the 65-64 victory over the Warriors this afternoon in Pomona. It looked like that
Dontrell Hewlett scored the game-winner as the buzzer sounded, but the basket was ruled it didn't count as the shot didn't get off before the game ended. Hewlett finished with his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
John Wade III chipped in 13 points and
Cam Walker added 11 points.
FIRST HALF: The first half was even until Cal Poly Pomona (10-15, 9-12 CCAA) took a 19-11 lead on a trey by Malachi Murrell with eleven minutes into the game. The Broncos increased their lead to 30-17 on another trey by Malachi with two minutes left in the half. The Warriors finished the half outscoring the Broncos 7-2 on a trey by

Mahda Fallay to cut the Stan State deficit to 32-24 heading into the half.
SECOND HALF: Cal Poly Pomona started the second half outscoring the Warriors 13-9 to take a 45-33 lead just six minutes into the second half.
Tony Singleton's trey off a
Will Chavarin assist capped a 11-5 run by the Warriors as Stan State cut the deficit to 50-44. The Broncos increased their lead to 56-44 with seven minutes left in regulation. Stan State (7-20, 4-17 CCAA) outscored the Broncos 18-7 to cut the deficit to 63-62 on a
Dontrell Hewlett lay-up with just 16 seconds to go in the game. Cal Poly Pomona increased its lead to 65-62 on two free throws with 12 seconds on the clock.
Cam Walker was fouled on the Warriors' next possession and connected on both free throws and cut the Bronco lead to 65-64 with just eight seconds to go in the game.
Jonathan Tchengang got the steal on the Broncos' next possession, but what looked like the game-winner by Hewlett was ruled no good as it went off after the buzzer sounded as CPP took the 65-64 victory.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Dontrell Hewlett recorded his second double-double as a Warrior with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hewlett went nine-for-18 and recorded two steals and dished out one assist in 32 minutes.
TWO OTHERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES: John Wade III scored 13 points for the Warriors to go with his seven rebounds.
Cam Walker had 11 points with his two steals as he went three-for-five from three-point land.
