TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State finished the weekend 1-1 after a 60-50 victory over the visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros this afternoon at The Fitz. With win, the Warriors sweep the season series from the Toros.
Mya Blake had a game high 18 points and
Asha Walker chipped in 10 points.
FIRST QUARTER: Asha Walker's trey off a
Aunika Hornung pass gave the Warriors an early 10-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Cal State Dominguez Hills (10-11, 7-8 CCAA) finished the quarter outscoring Stan State 9-2 to cut the deficit to 13-12.
SECOND QUARTER: The Toros kept their run going as they took a 17-15 lead in the first two minutes of the second quarter.
Talia Maxwell's two free throws capped a 12-4 run by Stan State (13-12, 8-7 CCAA) as the hosts took a 27-21 lead with 3:40 left in the half. Once again, the Toros outscored the Warriors in the final minutes of the quarter. This time, 6-3 to cut the hosts' lead to 30-27 heading into the locker room.
THIRD QUARTER: Mya Blake's jumper gave the Warriors a 34-29 lead in the first two minutes of the new quarter. Nala Williams' lay-up capped a mini 4-0 run by the visitors as they cut Stan State's lead to 34-33.

Taylor Pilot pass increased the Warriors' lead to 38-33 mid-way through the quarter. For the third straight quarter, CSUDH outscored the Warriors to end a quarter, 4-1, to cut the Warrior lead to 39-37 heading into the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Stan State started the final quarter on a 6-2 run to increase its lead to 45-39 just four minutes into the quarter. A trey by Liliana Marque off a
Taylor Pilot increased the Warriors' lead to 52-43 at the 4:38 mark of the fourth quarter. Hosanna Walker's jumper capped a 7-2 run by the Toros to cut their hosts' lead to 54-50. Stan State finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to take the 60-50 CCAA home victory.
DEFENSE: The Warriors held the Toros to just 27% shooting from the field including not letting CSUDH make trey (0-for-11). They also forced 17 turnovers including eight by steals (three by
Aunika Hornung, two each by
Taylor Pilot and
Mya Blake, and one by
Joia Armstrong).
SWAT THAT SHOT: Stan State had six blocked shots.
Aunika Hornung and
Liliana Marques each had two blocked shots. Two Warriors had one apiece in
Taylor Pilot and
Ashley Lewis.
GRAB THE REBOUND: The Warriors won the battle of the boards, 42-41, including 20-19 on the offensive glass.
Taylor Pilot had eight rebounds (five offensive) and
Aunika Hornung had seven and
Joia Armstrong had six.
SEASON SWEEP: The Warriors swept the season series from the Toros. They defeated CSUDH 65-59 on Dec. 7 in Carson and 60-50 this evening in Turlock.
UP NEXT: Stan State will be back on the road for a pair of CCAA games on Feb. 8 at Sonoma State (5:30pm) and on Feb. 10 at Cal State San Marcos (1pm).
