Warriors Drop Difficult Match Against Cal Poly Humboldt

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State Warriors (9-3, 2-2 CCAA) played game two of their 4-match home stand against Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks (6-6, 2-2 CCAA). The Warrior's 10th win continues to evade them with a 3-1 loss tonight.

FIRST SET: Stanislaus struggled in the first set by starting down 0-4. Kills by Christallynn Tate and Malia Tanksley helped the Warriors begin their climb to catch Humboldt. The set was won by Humboldt 25-15.

SECOND SET: The Warriors came out aggressive in the second set with a 5-3 lead. The set remained close, but a tough rotation gave Humbolt a 18-14 lead. Stan State battled back to 19-20, but ultimately lost the set 25-23.

THIRD SET: The third set had no clear winner at the beginning, but the Warriors pushed to take a 13-9 lead, causing Humboldt to take the first timeout of the set. That did not slow Stan State down as Christallynn Tate's block and five kills, plus Gabby Rawson's service ace led them to a decisive set win 25-13.

FOURTH SET: Both teams played hard, with the score staying close. Kills by Christallynn Tate and Isabella Saucedo allowed the Warriors to take and keep a three-point lead, with two service aces by Autumn Kirby kept them ahead even with good offensive pressure from the Lumberjacks. Humboldt managed to keep this pressure despite Stan State's best efforts and closed out the fourth and final set 25-21.

TATE: Christallynn Tate was a strong offensive player for the Warriors tonight with two blocks and a .435 hitting percentage.

DOUBLE DIGITS: Shaelyn Pruiett just missed out on another double-double with nine digs and 17 assists. Haley Burdo had 24 assists and Gabby Rawson ensured the ball stayed in play with 22 digs.

UP NEXT: Stan State plays October 4th at 5:00 p.m. against San Francisco State (8-3,3-1 CCAA) at the Fitz.
