LACEY, Wash.--- Three different Stan State Warriors scored to key their 3-1 season opening victory at Saint Martin's in both team's regular season opener.
Jocelin Roa scored the first goal in the tenth minute followed by
Aliah Avila in the 64
th minute and
Haylee Heffner scoring the last Warrior goal in the 86
th minute.
FIRST HALF: The Warriors took the early 1-0 lead in the tenth minute as
Jocelin Roa scored her first collegiate goal off a cross from
Arionna Imhoff and
Haylee Heffner. Stan State (1-0) had four more chances to double its lead the final 35 minutes of the half including one in the 19
th minute off the foot of
Kaia Mills which was stopped by the Saints' goalkeeper. Saint Martin's had just one-shot attempt in the 17
th minute by Payton Aselton which hit the woodwork. The match went into the half with the Warriors leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF: Roa had a chance to double the Warriors' lead in the 47
th minute, but it went over the top of the goal. Fifteen minutes later,
Aliah Avila increased Stan State's lead to 2-0 on unassisted goal. The Warriors had a couple more chances to increase lead but couldn't cross the ball into the goal.
Haylee Heffner scored the Warriors' third goal in the 86
th minute on a ball from
Kyndra Obermeyer to secure the 3-1 road victory. Saint Martin's (0-1) scored in the final minutes on an unassisted goal by Ravyn Mummey.

Jocelin Roa scored her first collegiate goal in a Stan State women's soccer uniform.
Aliah Avila scored her fourth and
Haylee Heffner scored her fifth career goal. Adding assists for Stan State were Heffner along with
Arionna Imhoff and
Kyndra Obermeyer.
GOALKEEPERS: Natalia Ochoa and
Malia Allen shared time in goal for the Warriors each playing a half. Stan State's defense allowed the Saints just four shot attempts including only one on goal this afternoon.
UP NEXT: Stan State will continue its season beginning two-match road trip this Saturday, Sept. 7 with a 2:00 p.m. starting match against the Red Leafs of Simon Fraser in Burnaby, British Columbia. The Red Leafs are hosting Cal State East Bay this evening at 7:00 p.m.
