No. 3 Stanislaus State Set for CCAA Semifinal Showdown Friday vs. Cal State East Bay

TURLOCK, Calif.--- The No. 3 nationally ranked Stanislaus State men's soccer team continues its historic 2025 campaign this week as the Warriors head to Seaside for the CCAA Championship Tournament semifinals, where they'll face Cal State East Bay on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Cal State Monterey Bay. The match will stream live on FloCollege, with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship final at 11:30 a.m.

Weekend Recap
The No. 2 seed Warriors (14-1-1 overall, 8-1-1 CCAA) earned a first-round bye and return to the pitch following a decisive 4-0 victory over UC Merced to close the regular season on Nov. 6. Stan State scored twice in each half to cap an unbeaten home campaign (7-0-1) and secure the program's best regular-season record in school history. The Warriors enter the postseason ranked No. 3 nationally and No. 1 in the NCAA Super Region 4 rankings.

The Warriors' 2025 season has already been one for the record books. Stan State recorded a school-record 14-match unbeaten streak earlier this fall, which included a seven-match winning streak, also the longest in program history. With 14 victories entering the postseason, the Warriors are one win away from matching the program record for wins in a season (15), set in 2015.

Warriors Update
Stanislaus State boasts one of Division II's top two-way teams, ranking among national leaders in scoring offense and defensive average. The Warriors have outscored opponents 37-9 and have posted nine shutouts while averaging 2.31 goals per match.

Offensively, Gerardo Flores (9 goals, 6 assists) and Emmanuel Duran (8 goals, 3 assists) headline a balanced attack that features Sebastian Carbajal (5 goals), Adrian Yepez (2 goals, 6 assists), and Samuel Villanueva (1 goal, 10 assists), who continues to pace the CCAA in helpers.

Defensively, the back line of Villanueva, Christian Brenes, Ian Reis, Federico Barbieri, David Lozano, and Ryan Rosas has limited opponents to fewer than 10 shots per game. In goal, Angel Ruiz-Hernandez ranks among the nation's best with a 0.56 goals-against average, .857 save percentage, and a 14-1-1 record.

NCAA and CCAA Leaders
The Warriors rank among the nation's elite in multiple statistical categories, sitting fifth in assists per game, eighth in goal differential, ninth in points per game, sixth in save percentage, 14th in scoring offense, fifth in shutout percentage, eighth in total assists, 19th in total goals, 13th in total points, and second in win-loss percentage.

Individually, Samuel Villanueva ranks fifth in Division II in assists per game and seventh in total assists. Gerardo Flores is tied for fifth nationally in game-winning goals. Goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez ranks fifth in total shutouts and sixth nationally in both goals-against average and save percentage.

Within the CCAA, Flores is tied for first in goals, leads the league in game-winning goals, ranks second in points, and is tied for fourth in assists. Duran is tied for fourth in goals, tied for seventh in game-winning goals, and ranks sixth in points. Carbajal is tied for seventh in game-winning goals and tied for eighth in goals scored. Villanueva leads the CCAA in assists and ranks 10th in points. Ruiz-Hernandez leads all CCAA goalkeepers in goals-against average, save percentage, and shutouts, and ranks fourth in total saves.

Friday, Nov. 14 – Semifinals
#2 Stanislaus State vs. #6 Cal State East Bay – 10:30 a.m.
#1 Cal State Dominguez Hills vs. #5 Cal State San Marcos – 1:30 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 16 – Championship Final
Winner Match 3 vs. Winner Match 4 – 11:30 a.m.

The Warriors seek their first-ever CCAA Tournament title and third trip to the championship match in program history. The winner of the CCAA Tournament receives the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship.

Scouting Cal State East Bay
The No. 6 seed Pioneers (7-5-5, 4-2-4 CCAA) are making their second CCAA semifinal appearance in program history after a thrilling 2-1 upset at Cal State LA in the quarterfinals. East Bay has been one of the CCAA's most improved teams under head coach Robin Hart, riding a balanced attack led by senior forward Alejandro Zarate — the conference's leading scorer with 9 goals and 9 assists (27 points). Kiichi Murakami (3 goals, 5 assists) and Julian Valle (3 goals, 3 assists) provide additional options up front, while the Pioneers' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Adan Corona (1.36 GAA, .763 save percentage), has posted four clean sheets.

Offensively, East Bay averages 1.88 goals per match and has scored multiple goals in 10 of 17 contests this season. The Pioneers are 3-2-5 on the road and rank among the CCAA leaders in total assists (33). The Warriors and Pioneers tied 2-2 in Turlock on Oct. 3, and Stanislaus State leads the all-time series 11-7-3.

Scouting Cal State Dominguez Hills
The top-seeded Toros (12-2-4, 8-0-2 CCAA) enter the semifinals unbeaten in their last 10 matches and seeking their second consecutive CCAA Tournament championship. Cal State Dominguez Hills features one of the league's stingiest defenses, allowing only 11 goals in 18 matches for a 0.61 goals-against average.

Offensively, the Toros are paced by Diego Barahona (4 goals, 1 assist), David Politron (3 goals, 3 assists), and Christian Briseno (3 goals, 1 assist), while goalkeeper Keegan O'Brien has been dominant with a 0.72 GAA, .767 save percentage, and six shutouts. CSUDH has outshot opponents 187-162 and scored 24 goals this fall, winning seven of its last eight. The Toros lead the all-time series with Stanislaus State 11-4-4 after a 1-0 win in Carson on Oct. 31.

Scouting Cal State San Marcos
The fifth-seeded Cougars (6-7-5, 5-4-1 CCAA) have battled through a competitive schedule and reached the semifinals after advancing on penalties following a 2-2 draw with Cal State San Bernardino in the opening round. San Marcos has been led all season by senior forward Efren Nunez Dominguez, who has 9 goals and 5 assists for 23 points, ranking among the CCAA's top scorers.

The Cougars have netted 30 goals while conceding 30 across 18 matches and have proven dangerous in transition with multiple scoring threats including David Ruiz (4 goals), Oli Barrosa (3 goals, 3 assists), and Cisco Avila (3 goals). Goalkeeper Tony Flores has posted a 1.46 GAA and .695 save percentage with four shutouts. Stanislaus State leads the all-time series with Cal State San Marcos 5-3-2, including a 1-0 victory earlier this season in Turlock.

Warrior Record Book
Several Warriors continue to climb the program's record lists this fall. Samuel Villanueva ranks second in program history with 14 career assists. Angel Ruiz-Hernandez is third all-time in shutouts (14), sixth in saves (112), third in career victories (20), and fourth in minutes played (2,862).

In single-season marks, Gerardo Flores' nine goals rank fifth in Warrior history, while Emmanuel Duran's eight goals stand eighth. Villanueva's 10 assists are tied for the most in a single season, and Adrian Yepez's six assists are tied for fourth. Flores' 24 points rank fifth all-time, Duran's 19 points are eighth, and Ruiz-Hernandez's nine shutouts this season are the second-most in a single campaign in program history.

NCAA Super Region 4 Rankings
The next NCAA Division II Super Region 4 rankings will be released Wednesday, Nov. 12. Tournament champions from the CCAA, RMAC, Lone Star, GNAC, and PacWest will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament, with the top 10 teams from Super Region 4 advancing to the postseason field. The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Selection Show will air Monday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
