HAYWARD, Calif.---The Stan State men's basketball team wrapped up its opening weekend with a dominant defensive performance, defeating Fresno Pacific, 65–50, Saturday night at the Pioneer Conference Challenge hosted by Cal State East Bay. The Warriors finished the weekend 1–1 to begin the 2025–26 season.
First Half
The Warriors' defense set the tone early, holding Fresno Pacific to just 23 first-half points on 29 percent shooting. All-CCAA forward

Lloyd French powered Stan State's balanced start, while

Donjae Lindsey, and
Tahjae Ordonio each knocked down three-pointers to help build a 29–23 halftime lead. The Warriors forced eight turnovers in the opening 20 minutes and held the Sunbirds to one made three.
Second Half
Stan State continued to control the game defensively after halftime, limiting Fresno Pacific to only 27 points in the second half and 32 percent shooting overall. Ameyaw finished with his eighth career double-double, totaling 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way. Cibull added 12 points and four assists, while French scored 10 and grabbed four rebounds.
Zimmer hit a pair of threes en route to nine points, Lindsey added eight points with a three-pointer and two assists, and Ordonio went 2-for-2 from deep to finish with six.
Malachi Johnson anchored the interior with nine rebounds and a block as the Warriors held the Sunbirds to 3-for-21 from beyond the arc and just 50 total points.
Key Defensive Stand
The Warriors' defense was the difference from start to finish. Fresno Pacific made only 20 field goals in 62 attempts and turned the ball over 11 times, which led to 16 Stan State points. The Warriors out-rebounded the Sunbirds, 39–36, and used a decisive 11–0 run midway through the second half to extend their lead to 20 points, their largest margin of the night.
