SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--- A complete team effort lifted the Stanislaus State men's basketball team to its third straight win Saturday afternoon, as six Warriors scored in double figures in a 93–89 road victory at Dominican University. The win capped a perfect 2–0 Bay Area week, improved Stan State's record to 3–1 on the season and snapped Dominican's season-opening three-game winning streak.
First Half
Stan State came out hot, shooting nearly 58 percent from the floor and racing to a 53–42 halftime lead.
Donjae Lindsey and
Malachi Johnson each scored nine in the first half, while
Daniel Ameyaw added eight on 4-for-4 shooting.
Jason Zimmer hit a pair of early threes, and the Warriors' defense forced 11 turnovers before halftime. Stan State scored 24 points in the paint and converted those Dominican miscues into 19 points, taking control of the game early with an 11–1 run late in the half.
Second Half
The Penguins made several pushes after the break, cutting the margin to one in the final minute, but Stan State sealed the win with timely baskets and free throws in the closing seconds.
Tahjae Ordonio came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-for-5 at the line. Lindsey followed with 16 points, four assists, and three steals, while Ameyaw continued his efficient play with 15 points and eight rebounds. Zimmer added 13 points, Johnson scored 11, and
Lloyd French posted a near double-double with 10 points and eight boards.
Stan State shot 51 percent from the field (36-for-71), 35 percent from three, and 70 percent from the free-throw line. The Warriors out-rebounded Dominican 41–30, outscored them 44–42 in the paint, and dominated the bench scoring battle 38–19 in another balanced offensive effort.
