ROCKLIN, Calif.---Stan State closed out its opening weekend at the Bill Holtz Classic hosted by Jessup University (2–0) on Saturday afternoon, falling 75–67 to the host Warriors in a competitive non-conference matchup. The result evened Stan State's record at 1–1 to start the 2025–26 season.
Eryn Gardner led Stan State with 17 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double as a Warrior, while
Karissa Hukill scored a season-high 17 points and added two steals. Milasarai Tau contributed 12 points and four rebounds before fouling out, and
Quinn Garrett finished with seven points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Stan State shot 39 percent (24-for-61) from the field and hit six three-pointers. The Warriors forced 16 Jessup turnovers, turning them into 21 points, and grabbed 10 steals on the defensive end.
Jessup used hot shooting to build an early lead and finished the afternoon 10-for-25 from beyond the arc. Andheya Aurelio led the hosts with 24 points, while Giselle Dogan added 20.
First Quarter
Stan State matched Jessup early, trading baskets through the opening minutes.
Eryn Gardner and Milasarai Tau scored in the paint as the Warriors trailed 19–14 after the first period.
Second Quarter
The host Warriors extended their lead behind three-point shooting from Dogan and Aurelio, pushing the margin to nine before halftime.
Karissa Hukill and Tau combined for 11 second-quarter points to keep Stan State within striking distance, as Jessup led 41–32 at the break.
Third Quarter
Stan State came out strong in the third quarter, with Hukill hitting a three-pointer to spark an 8–0 run that cut the deficit to one at 41–40. Gardner scored nine points in the period, including a fastbreak layup and a three-pointer, but Jessup answered with a barrage of perimeter shots to hold a 62–50 lead entering the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Stan State battled back again, outscoring Jessup 17–13 in the final quarter. Hukill hit another late three, and Gardner's putback made it a one-possession game before Jessup sealed the win with free throws in the final minute.
