ARCATA, Calif.---Stan State women's basketball opened its two-game CCAA road swing on Thursday evening with a 69–57 setback at Cal Poly Humboldt, highlighted by season-high 13-point efforts from both
Amya Vangkham-Griffin and
Sara Davis.
Vangkham-Griffin knocked down three three-pointers and added three rebounds, while Davis collected seven boards and finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Quinn Garrett added six points, six rebounds, and three steals, and the Warrior bench posted a strong 33–25 scoring advantage.
The Warriors fell to 1–3 overall and 0–1 in CCAA play, while the Lumberjacks improved to 2–3 and 1–0 in the conference. Humboldt was led by Jordyn Smith's 14-point, 17-rebound double-double and 16 points from Sienna Cherwinski, while outscoring Stan State 40–20 in the paint.
First Quarter
Stan State delivered a solid opening frame, trailing just 20–17 after ten minutes. Early baskets from Davis and Vangkham-Griffin set the tone, and
Kalyn Harris buried a late three to keep the Warriors within one possession.
Second Quarter
Humboldt used a decisive 22–7 second quarter to take control. Turnovers and second-chance points fueled the run as the Lumberjacks built a 42–24 halftime lead.
Third Quarter
The Warriors responded with one of their best stretches of the night, outscoring Humboldt 17–12. Vangkham-Griffin hit her third three-pointer, Davis scored in transition, and Stan State forced multiple turnovers to cut the lead to 54–41 entering the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
Stan State continued to chip away with balanced scoring from Gardner, Vangkham-Griffin, Davis, Hukill, and Harris. The Warriors matched Humboldt 16–15 in the final period but could not erase the early gap.
