Despite Tau’s Career Day, Warriors Fall 66–52 at Chico State

CHICO, Calif.---Stan State women's basketball closed its two-game CCAA-opening road trip and wrapped up a season-opening five-game stretch away from home on Saturday afternoon with a 66–52 setback at Chico State. Despite the result, the Warriors showed continued growth behind a breakout career performance from MilaSarai Tau, leading by as many as six early and finishing the opening quarter with a 19–15 advantage before the Wildcats (5–2, 2–0 CCAA) surged in the second half.

First Quarter
Stan State opened the afternoon with one of its strongest offensive quarters of the season, scoring 19 points while shooting 45 percent from the field. Tau and Aaliyah Dias sparked the early offense, helping the Warriors build a six-point lead at 11–5 after a 7–0 run. Tau scored eight points in the frame, and Stan State carried a 19–15 lead into the second period.

Second Quarter
Chico State responded with a 19–10 second quarter, moving in front 34–29 at halftime. Tau added four more points to reach 12 at the break, while a Dias three-pointer briefly put Stan State back ahead 25–24 before the Wildcats answered with an 8–0 run.

Third Quarter
Chico extended its advantage with a 20–11 third quarter. Tau continued her career afternoon by reaching 16 points, and Stan State worked to stay within reach, but the Wildcats capitalized on offensive rebounds and timely threes to push the margin to 54–40 entering the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Stan State battled evenly with a 12–12 fourth quarter. Karissa Hukill finished strong in the period, and the Warriors continued to defend inside, but Chico maintained its cushion to close out the 66–52 final.
