SAN MARCOS, Calif.--- Stan State split the season series with Cal State San Marcos behind a total team effort in San Marcos, Calif., this evening defeating the Cougars 78-63. Four Warriors scored in double digits led by
Jeremiah Jones' 19 points.
Lloyd French had a season high 15 points off the bench while
Daniel Ameyaw chipped in 11 points and
Cameron Walker added 10 points for the victors.
FIRST HALF: The Warriors jumped out to a 12-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game. A Mikey Aikhionbare lay-up capped an 8-2 run by Cal State San Marcos as the hosts cut the Warrior lead to 14-11. In the next minutes, Stan State (11-14, 8-11 CCAA) outscored its hosts 18-9 to take a 32-20 lead on a
Jason Zimmer trey off a
Jeremiah Jones pass. Two free throws by Keavie Love cut the Stan State lead to 32-24 with 2:27 left in the half.
Mahda Fallay's lay-up off a Zimmer assist capped a half ending 6-3 run by the Warirors to end the half as they took a 38-27 lead into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: Cal State San Marcos (5-20, 5-14 CCAA) started the second half on a 9-2 run to cut into the Warrior lead, 40-36, just three minutes into the new half.
Jason Zimmer's trey capped a 5-0 run by the Warriors as they increased their lead to 45-36. A
Jeremiah Jones' tip-in increased the guests' lead to 53-38 at the 11:39 mark of the second half. The Cougars twice cut the Warrior lead to eight including 55-47 on a Veljko Muntilak lay-up with nine minutes to go in regulation. A
Lloyd French trey off a
Jason Cibull assist capped a 15-7 run by the Warriors as they took a 70-54 lead with four minutes left in the game. Two free throws by Uriah Foster kept CSUSM in the game, 73-61, but that is the closest the hosts would get as Stan State took the 78-63 road victory.
COAST TO COAST: Stan State led the whole game this evening from start to finish. The Warriors' largest lead was 78-61 when
Cameron Walker made two free throws with a little under a minute left in the game.
FOUR IN DOUBLE DIGITS: The Warriors had four players score in double digits this evening in San Marcos, Calif., paced by
Jeremiah Jones' 19 points.

DEFENSE: Stan State held the Cougars to 38.2% shooting from the field including just 29.2% from three-point land. The Warriors forced 15 turnovers by Cal State San Marcos including nine by steals. Two each came from
Jeremiah Jones,
Lloyd French, and
William Chavarin.
Daniel Ameyaw,
Jason Cibull, and
Jason Zimmer each had one steal.
ONE GAME OUT: The Warriors are still alive for the six-team CCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Championship, March 6-8, at Cal State San Marcos. The Warriors are tied for eighth place with San Francisco State each at 8-11. They hold the tie-breaker with the Gators as they swept the season series. Cal State East Bay and Cal State Los Angeles are tied for sixth place each at 9-10. Cal State Dominguez Hills holds the top spot at 17-1 followed by Chico State at 16-3. Cal State San Bernardino sits in third with its 11-8 CCAA record followed by Cal Poly Humboldt and Cal Poly Pomona who are tied for fourth place each at 10-9.

Mahda Fallay scoring four points and
Jason Cibull adding two points.
FRENCH: Lloyd French had a season high 15 points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes of action off the bench. French added two steals for the victors. He went six-for-eleven from the field including two-for-four from three-point land and made a free throw.
24 STRAIGHT: Jeremiah Jones has scored in double digits now in 24 straight games with his 19 points this evening. He is averaging 18.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 46.6% from the field. Jones is shooting 89.3% from the charity stripe just missing eleven of his 103 attempts this season.
TIED SEASON HIGH: The Warriors tied their season high in trey made this evening going 10-for-22 from beyond the arc.
Jason Zimmer and
Lloyd French each went two-for-four while
Jonathan Tchengang and
Daniel Ameyaw each made their three-point field goal attempt. Also connecting from beyond the arc were

Jeremiah Jones (one).
UP NEXT: Stan State travels to Rohnert Park, Calif., this Saturday, February 22 for its final road game of the regular season. The Warriors will face Sonoma State at 7:30 p.m. in The Wolves Den this Saturday evening. Earlier this season in Turlock, Stan State defeated the Seawolves 95-85. Sonoma State defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 87-80 earlier this evening in Rohnert Park.
