TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State played Chico State for its CCAA home opener. In today's doubleheader, the Warriors won the first game 5-2 and the second game 5-4.
GAME 1: Chico State (11-5, 3-3 CCAA) scored first, earning two singles then moving the runners over with a sacrifice bunt. A groundout brought the runner at third home to give the Wildcats at 1-0 lead.

It remained quiet until the bottom of the fourth when Stan State (5-10, 2-4 CCAA) had a five-run rally to take the lead. The Warriors kicked things off when
Sasha Martello singled with one out.
Madison Rosebrough singled to move Martello to second, then
Avery Jolley came in to pinch tun for Martello.
Sarah Warden and
McKenna Beach were both hit by pitches to put them on base and allow
Avery Jolley to score. A strikeout put the Warriors with three on base as
Bree Barner came up to pinch hit. An error turned into two runs for Stan State as Barner made it to second on the throw.
Malia Babasa followed up with a single to score
McKenna Beach and
Bree Barner, making it a 5-1 ball game.

Chico State responded in the top of the fifth with three singles and a bases-loaded walk, but no further damage was done. The Warriors won game one 5-2.

GAME 2:Â The first inning held much of the action, with Chico State scoring two with two singles and a double.

Stan State answered with a single from
Malia Babasa and a double by
Allejandra Perea, which scored Babasa. Perea moved to third on a wild pitch and
Shelby Frutoz walked to put runners on first and third.
Madison Rosebrough singled to score Perea and move Frutoz to second.
Sarah Warden grounded out, but moved the runners to second and third.
McKenna Beach singled, allowing Frutoz to score and Rosebrough to move to third. After a pitching change,
Bree Barner singled, moving Beach to third and scoring
Shelby Frutoz to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead going into the second.

Chico State earned their third run with a home run by Gracie Dunning in the third inning.

Malia Babasa got a one out single in the bottom of the fourth.
Allejandra Perea earned a single to move her to second.
Shelby Frutoz reached on an error, allowing Babasa to score to give the Warriors a two-run lead, 5-3.

Aiyana Curry went deep for the Wildcats to bring the score to 5-4, but Stan State sealed the deal to keep Chico State at bay.
MARTELLO:Â
Sasha Martello pitched game one, allowing 10 hits, but keeping those to only two runs, and improved her record to 3-3. Martello recorded two walks and five strikeouts. She aided her offense by going two-for-three in the batter's box.

BABASA: Malia Babasa continues to perform well in the box, going three-for-eight with two runs batted in and scoring two runs. Babasa also left no runners stranded.

ROSEBROUGH: Freshman
Madison Rosebrough hit three-for-six over the two games, scoring two and batting in one run. Rosebrough earned her first mult-hit game in the first game and the third RBI of her college career.
