CARSON, Calif.--- Cal State Dominguez Hills took games two and three from the visiting Stan State Warriors this afternoon at Toro Diamond in Carson, Calif. 4-1 and 5-1. In game one,
Flavio Perez and
Tyler Van Dyk each had two hits. In the night cap, Perez and
Robert Valdivia each had two hits. The two teams will conclude the four-game series tomorrow at noon.
Game One: The opener of today's doubleheader until the Toro fifth when they scored two runs including one on a Warrior error to take a 2-0 lead. Stan State (7-10, 2-5 CCAA) cut the Toro lead in half with a run in the top of the seventh.
Flavio Perez had a one-out single and went to third on a
Tyler Van Dyk single. He scored on an
Arthur Navarette Jr. sacrifice fly.
Cal State Dominguez added another run in the seventh on a two-out run scoring single to take a 3-1 lead. The Toros added insurance run in the eighth increase their lead to 4-1. The hosts shut down the Warriors in the ninth to preserve the 4-1 game one victory.
MULTIPLE-HITS: Stan State had four hits in the game as both
Flavio Perez and
Tyler Van Dyk each had two hits. Each Warrior went two-for-four with Perez scoring Stan State's run.
PITCHING DUO: Rocco Gurrola suffered the loss going seven innings, giving up eight hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out two and walking one.
Noah Chelberg pitched one innings, giving up one hit and a run.
Game Two: Cal State Dominguez Hills (9-6, 5-1 CCAA) took a 1-0 lead in the night cap on a solo one-out home run by Noah Karliner in the Toro fifth. The hosts had a three-run third to increase their lead to 4-0.
Karliner gave the Toros a 5-1 lead on a solo home run by Karliner in the fifth.
Stan State had a scoring threat in the sixth.
Ryan Leonesio had a lead-off single and went to second on a one-out single by
Flavio Perez.
Alex Solis singled to load the bases. Leonesio scored when
Tyler Van Dyk reached on an error to cut the deficit to 5-1. The Toros pitchers struck out the next two Warrior batters to end their scoring threat.
The Warriors had another chance to cut into the Toro lead in their last at bat.
Jonluke Goldman had a lead-off walk. He went to second on a one-out walk to Leonesio.
Robert Valdivia singled to load the base. The Toros got Stan State's next two batters out to preserve the 5-1 victory.

Alex Solis and
Ryan Leonesio each had a hit while Leonesio scored Stan State's run.
OLIVER: Quinn Oliver pitched three innings of relief, giving up just one hit and a run while striking ut two.
UP NEXT: Stan State will wrap-up its weekend series with Cal State Dominguez Hills with a noon starting series finale on Sunday, March 2. The Warriors will return home March 7-9, for a four-game series with Cal State Los Angeles beginning with a 6:00 p.m. series opener on Friday, March 7.
