Balanced Scoring From Gardner, Premo, and Tau Not Enough in 80–71 Loss to SF State

TURLOCK, Calif.--  Stan State received a balanced offensive effort from Eryn Gardner, Alyssa Premo, and MilaSarai Tau, who combined for 48 points, but San Francisco State used a strong third quarter to secure an 80–71 win Thursday evening at Fitzpatrick Arena. The Warriors were tied with the Gators at halftime and remained within reach into the fourth quarter before SFSU created late separation. Gardner recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds, Premo added a team-high 18 points, and Tau chipped in 15 points to round out the trio.

First Quarter
The opening 10 minutes set the tone for a tightly contested night, with neither team able to establish early control. Stan State countered every San Francisco State run, and the quarter featured multiple ties and lead changes. Gardner and Tau helped the Warriors close the period tied at 20–20.

Second Quarter
The back-and-forth pace continued in the second, as Stan State leaned on balanced scoring and strong defensive possessions to stay level. Premo attacked the paint and consistently got to the free-throw line, while Gardner controlled the glass on both ends. Despite SF State holding a narrow edge late, the Warriors stayed composed and went into halftime trailing 37–35.

Third Quarter
San Francisco State found its rhythm coming out of the break, shooting efficiently and scoring 30 points in the quarter. Stan State answered with timely baskets from Premo, Tau, and Gardner, but the Gators were able to stretch the margin with strong perimeter shooting. SF State carried a 65–57 advantage into the final period.

Fourth Quarter
Stan State stayed aggressive in the final quarter, cutting into the deficit with interior scoring and defensive stops. Gardner and Premo continued to generate offense, and the Warriors pulled within single digits multiple times. Despite the push, SF State closed the game at the free-throw line down the stretch to secure the 80–71 result.
