TURLOCK, Calif. —
Stan State picked up a hard-fought 66-58 CCAA victory over UC Merced Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Arena.
The Warriors delivered a composed team performance across all four quarters, using a strong second-quarter surge and steady execution down the stretch to secure the home win. Stan State's balance on offense and physical presence inside played a pivotal role throughout the contest.
First Quarter
Stan State opened the game with consistent offensive execution and defensive intensity. The Warriors established an early presence in the paint and on the glass, trading baskets with UC Merced as both teams settled into the match up. Stan State remained patient offensively, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.
Second Quarter
Momentum shifted decisively in the second quarter as the Warriors went on an extended run to create separation. Stan State outscored the Bobcats 24-8 in the period, fueled by improved ball movement and strong finishes inside. Defensive stops turned into transition opportunities, allowing the Warriors to build a double-digit halftime advantage.
Third Quarter
UC Merced made a push coming out of the break, but Stan State responded with poise. The Warriors matched the Bobcats' energy, answering baskets with timely scoring and limiting second-chance opportunities. Physical play in the paint helped Stan State maintain control entering the final period.
