TURLOCK, Calif.--- Men's soccer's Kenneth Solares and men's golf's Mason Montgomery have been named this week's Stan State Housing and Residential Life Warriors of the Week after helping their respective teams earn victories.

Solares scored the game-winning goal in the Warriors' 2-1 CCAA victory over UC Merced on Sunday, while Montgomery captured individual medalist honors and helped Stan State win the team championship at the RCA Electric Invitational in Monterey.

KENNETH SOLARES – MEN'S SOCCER
Solares scored his first goal of the season and the fourth game-winning goal of his Warrior career in Stan State's 2-1 victory over UC Merced on Sunday at Warrior Stadium.

The Warrior midfielder scored the decisive goal with 20 minutes remaining to give Stan State a 2-1 advantage. The Warriors held the Bobcats scoreless the rest of the match to secure three important CCAA points.  Solares played all 90 minutes and finished with four shots, including two on goal. The goal was his first of the season, and he also has an assist from earlier this year, giving him three points on one goal and one assist. For his Warrior career, Solares has totaled seven goals and three assists for 17 points.

The victory improved Stan State to 3-5-5 overall and 1-3-3 in CCAA play. The Warriors have six conference points and are just three points behind seventh-place Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State East Bay and UC Merced in the conference standings.

Solares and the Warriors return to the pitch Thursday, Oct. 15, when they host Cal Poly Pomona at 4 p.m. at Warrior Stadium for Latinx Heritage Night. Stan State will then travel to Menlo College for a 3 p.m. CCAA match on Saturday, Oct. 17. Thursday's match will be streamed on FloCollege with live audio coverage provided by BlueChip Broadcasting.

MASON MONTGOMERY – MEN'S GOLF
Montgomery led Stan State to the team championship at the RCA Electric Invitational while capturing individual medalist honors at Pasadera in Monterey.

The sophomore from Beaumont, Calif., finished the three-round tournament at 4-under-par 206 after rounds of 67-69-70. Montgomery recorded 14 birdies and won medalist honors by two strokes.
His 206 tied for the fourth-lowest three-round tournament score in Stan State history, matching Jason McHague's performance at the 2006 GCU Fall Invitational and Ash Patel's score at the 2017 NCAA West Regional.

Montgomery's performance helped the Warriors capture the team championship with an 857 team score, finishing six strokes ahead of Menlo.

For his performance, Montgomery was named the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Golfer of the Week, becoming the first Stan State men's golfer to earn the conference weekly honor since Jack Peters and Chris Chomyn shared the recognition in February 2025.

Montgomery and the Warriors will compete in the final round of the Otter Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. Stan State enters the final round in seventh place in the 13-team field. The tournament marks the Warriors' final competition of the fall season.
