FRESNO, Calif. — Stan State battled throughout but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Fresno Pacific on Saturday afternoon at the Haak Tennis Complex. The Sunbirds improved to 2-0 overall, while the Warriors moved to 1-2 on the season. Fresno Pacific secured the doubles point and claimed three of the six singles matches to seal the narrow PacWest victory.

Stan State earned three straight-set singles victories at the No. 4, 5 and 6 positions, but the Sunbirds' wins on the top three courts proved to be the difference.

Stan State continues its early-season stretch on Saturday, Feb. 21, facing Saint Mary's College at 1 p.m. at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno. The Warriors will then travel to Menlo College for a 10 a.m. PacWest match on Feb. 28 in Atherton before returning home March 11 to host Hawai'i Pacific in a 2 p.m. conference contest at the Stan State Tennis Courts.
