TRACY, Calif. — Stan State responded in a big way Saturday morning, earning a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Central Washington at the NorCal Crossover at the Tracy Sports Complex.
The Warriors improved to 9-5 on the season with a complete team effort, combining early offensive pressure with timely hitting and clutch pitching down the stretch to secure the win.
GAME THREE: Stan State 6, Central Washington 4
Stan State wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. After reaching with two outs, Katelyn Bridgeman scored on an error before RBI singles from Madison Rosebrough and Sadie Salas gave the Warriors a 3-0 lead.
Central Washington answered with a run in the first and tied the game in the third, but Stan State regained the lead in the fourth. Ava Montesdeoca walked and later scored on a triple to right center by Malia Babasa, putting the Warriors ahead 4-3.
Stan State added another run in the fifth inning when Montesdeoca singled home a run after the Warriors loaded the bases. In the seventh, Babasa delivered again with an RBI single to provide an important insurance run.
Babasa led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Salas and Rosebrough each drove in a run, while the Warriors totaled 12 hits in the contest.
In the circle, Alexandria Himes earned the win in relief, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out two. The pitching staff worked through multiple traffic situations to preserve the victory.
GAME FOUR: Stan State 9, Montana State Billings 4
Stan State closed out Saturday with a strong offensive performance, defeating Montana State Billings 9-4 at the Tracy Sports Complex.
The Warriors wasted no time jumping on the Yellowjackets in the first inning. After back-to-back singles from Malia Babasa and Katelyn Bridgeman, Addie Meddings delivered a two-RBI single to give Stan State a 2-0 lead.
Montana State Billings answered with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Warriors responded again in the third inning. Bridgeman singled and aggressively advanced around the bases before scoring. Later in the inning, Sadie Salas singled and scored on a fielding error to extend the lead to 5-1.
Stan State broke the game open in the fourth, scoring three more runs. Bridgeman doubled down the left field line to drive in a run, Marley Hogue added a sacrifice fly, and Meddings followed with an RBI single to make it 8-1.
The Yellowjackets chipped away with single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, but the Warriors added an insurance run in the seventh when Salas scored on a groundout.
Stan State finished with 14 hits, with Meddings leading the way with three RBIs. Bridgeman recorded multiple hits and scored twice, while Babasa added a pair of hits at the top of the lineup.
In the circle, Alexandria Himes earned the win to improve to 5-2 on the season. Alexis Camberos and Nat Camarena combined in relief to secure the victory.
With the doubleheader sweep Saturday, Stan State improved to 10-5 overall and continued to build momentum at the NorCal Crossover.
