TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State split Saturday's CCAA doubleheader with Cal State San Bernardino, falling 4–1 in the opener before responding with a 5–0 shutout in game two to secure the series victory at Warrior Softball Field.
The Warriors improved to 14–10 overall and 3–5 in conference play after winning three of four games in the series.
GAME ONE: CSU San Bernardino 4, Stan State 1
Cal State San Bernardino struck first in the opening inning. Alex Hooper reached on a bunt single, moved to third on a wild pitch and flyout, and scored on Danyelle Castillo's RBI single to give the Coyotes an early 1–0 lead.
CSUSB added another run in the third inning after a Warrior error helped extend the frame. Mia Escujuri delivered an RBI single through the left side to make it 2–0.
The Coyotes increased the lead to 3–0 in the fourth inning when Iris Bejarano doubled and later scored on Hooper's RBI single to left field.
Stan State broke through in the sixth inning. Katelyn Bridgeman singled and Addie Meddings followed with a double to center field to put runners in scoring position. Nat Camarena then lined an RBI single to center, bringing Bridgeman home to cut the deficit to 3–1.
The Warriors threatened to do more damage in the inning after loading the bases, but the Coyotes escaped the jam to maintain the lead.
CSUSB added an insurance run in the seventh on Castillo's RBI double to center field to seal the 4–1 victory.
Bridgeman led Stan State offensively in the opener, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Meddings added a double while Moxie Barton, Sadie Salas, Maggie Pyke and Camarena each recorded hits.
Ashlyn Jubrey took the loss for the Warriors after allowing two runs, one earned, in three innings. Camarena pitched the final four innings in relief.
GAME TWO: Stan State 5, CSU San Bernardino 0
The Warriors responded quickly in the second game, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take control.
Moxie Barton reached base to start the inning and stole second before Malia Babasa drew a walk. Katelyn Bridgeman then doubled to right center to drive in the first run of the game.
Addie Meddings followed with an RBI fielder's choice, Nat Camarena added an RBI single through the right side, and Madison Rosebrough capped the inning with an RBI groundout to give Stan State a 4–0 lead.
Stan State added another run in the third inning. Meddings singled, advanced on a wild pitch, and moved to third on Camarena's sacrifice bunt before scoring on Sadie Salas' RBI single to left center.
That was more than enough support for Alexandria Himes, who delivered a dominant performance in the circle. Himes tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out four to improve to 7–3 on the season.
Six different Warriors recorded hits in the victory, including Barton, Babasa, Bridgeman, Meddings, Camarena and Salas.

Stan State continues CCAA play on the road March 27–28 with a four-game series at Chico State at Wildcat Softball Field in Chico, Calif.
The series begins Friday, March 27 with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by another doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. All four games will be streamed on FloCollege with live stats available.
The Warriors will then return home the following week to host No. 3 Cal State East Bay in a four-game CCAA series at Warrior Softball Field in Turlock.
The series begins Thursday, April 2 with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and continues Friday, April 3 with games scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Games will be streamed on FloCollege with BlueChip Broadcasting providing coverage for the home contests.
