Warriors Edge Dominican 4-3 in PacWest Battle

TURLOCK, Calif. – Stan State women's tennis secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Dominican on Sunday afternoon at the Stan State Tennis Courts, earning another key PacWest win during their homestand.

Dominican claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, despite a strong 6-2 victory from Katrine Damkjaer and Parker Orlando at No. 2 doubles. The Penguins carried a 1-0 lead into singles play, setting the stage for a competitive afternoon across the courts.

The Warriors responded in singles, winning four matches to secure the dual. Abbigail Mulick delivered one of the biggest performances of the day at No. 1 singles. After taking the first set 6-3, Mulick battled through a tight second-set tiebreak before regrouping and closing out the match in the third to earn a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 victory.

Katrine Damkjaer also went the distance at No. 3 singles. After winning the opening set, she fought through a back-and-forth match before sealing the deciding third set to secure another important point for the Warriors.

Parker Orlando continued her strong stretch of play at No. 4 singles, earning a 7-5, 6-2 straight-set win in a competitive match that featured long rallies and momentum swings.

Maiah White delivered a dominant performance at No. 5 singles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 victory to give Stan State a critical point in the dual.

Dominican picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, but the Warriors' depth across the middle of the lineup proved decisive as Stan State secured the 4-3 conference victory.

The win continues a strong stretch for the Warriors, who have now picked up two PacWest victories during the homestand.

Up Next

Stan State concludes its four-match homestand Monday, March 16, hosting Chaminade at 12:00 p.m. at the Stan State Tennis Courts.

The Silverswords enter the matchup following a challenging road trip, falling to Menlo before dropping a narrow 4-3 decision to Jessup earlier Sunday. Monday's contest will be the third match in four days for Chaminade as they continue their Northern California swing.

The Warriors will look to carry momentum from Sunday's conference win as they aim to defend home courts and close the homestand on a high note.
