TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State split its CCAA doubleheader with Cal Poly Humboldt on Friday at Warrior Softball Field, falling 1-0 in the opener before bouncing back for a 3-0 victory in game two.
The Warriors move to 20-25 overall and 9-18 in CCAA play, while the Lumberjacks are now 24-25 overall and 15-13 in conference action.
In game one, both teams were locked in a pitcher's duel through five scoreless innings before Cal Poly Humboldt broke through in the sixth. Matea Muraoka delivered an RBI single up the middle to score the game's only run for a 1-0 lead.
Stan State threatened throughout the contest, including a fourth-inning opportunity after Katelyn Bridgeman tripled to right center, but was unable to push a run across. The Warriors also put two runners on in the seventh inning before Humboldt closed out the shutout.
Bridgeman and Moxie Barton each recorded two hits, while Addie Meddings added a double. Alexandria Himes (9-6) took the loss despite allowing just one run on five hits in a complete-game effort.
Lily Fournier (11-10) earned the complete-game shutout for Cal Poly Humboldt, allowing eight hits while striking out five.
In game two, Stan State responded with a 3-0 victory behind a strong pitching performance from Nat Camarena.
The Warriors struck first in the opening inning as Addie Meddings delivered a two-run single to score Malia Babasa and Bridgeman for a 2-0 lead.
Stan State added an insurance run in the fifth inning when Moxie Barton singled to center to bring home Emily Bigley and extend the lead to 3-0.
Camarena (6-9) was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just four hits and striking out three.
Meddings led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Barton added a hit, an RBI and two walks. Bridgeman and Celine Ramos also recorded hits in the win.

Cal State San Marcos continues to lead the conference at 24-4, followed by Cal State East Bay at 19-9.
Cal Poly Humboldt (14-12) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (17-15) currently sit in the top four, with Cal State Monterey Bay holding the fifth and final postseason spot at 12-16.
Cal State San Bernardino and San Francisco State are both 10-16, while Chico State sits at 10-18. Stan State is 9-18 in conference play with two games remaining in the regular season.
The top five teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the CCAA Softball Championship Tournament, scheduled for May 6–9 in Hayward, Calif.
