TURLOCK, Calif.--- Hawai'i Pacific scored with 18 seconds remaining to force a 3-3 draw with Stan State Thursday evening at Warrior Stadium.
Alexis Cervantes recorded a brace for the Warriors, while
Colin Davis netted his first goal of the season.
Stan State built a 2-0 halftime lead behind goals from Cervantes and Davis before Hawaii Pacific cut the deficit to one in the 59th minute. Cervantes answered with his second goal of the evening in the 67th minute to give Stan State a 3-1 advantage, but the Sharks scored twice over the final 15 minutes, including Alexander Arguijo's equalizer at the 89:42 mark.
Stan State moves to 1-2-2 overall and remains unbeaten at Warrior Stadium at 1-0-2. Hawaii Pacific moves to 1-2-1.
FIRST HALF
Hawaii' Pacific created the first opportunity just over a minute into the match, but Stan State goalkeeper
Dylan Isasi stopped an attempt from Olle Ridelius. Isasi denied Ridelius again in the 14th minute. The Warriors nearly broke through in the ninth minute when
Gerardo Flores hit the crossbar.
Adrian Yepez followed with an attempt on goal in the 15th minute that was stopped by Hawaii' Pacific goalkeeper Eduardo Marin.
Stan State took the lead at the 19:57 mark.
Jose Ponce and Flores combined to set up Cervantes, who scored his fourth goal of the season to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage. The Warriors doubled their lead in the 38th minute. Davis entered the match less than a minute earlier and scored at the 37:23 mark off an assist from Ponce to give Stan State a 2-0 lead.
Hawaii' Pacific nearly pulled one back before halftime, but an attempt from Sven Toernkvist Angestav hit the crossbar in the 44th minute.
Stan State carried its 2-0 advantage into halftime.
SECOND HALF
The Warriors pressured Hawaii Pacific early in the second half, generating three corner kicks and several opportunities during the opening 11 minutes. Hawaii Pacific cut the Stan State lead in half at the 59:00 mark when Kelly Takara scored off an assist from Tyson Norr to make it 2-1.
Stan State answered at the 66:45 mark.
Jose Tizoc set up Cervantes, who scored his second goal of the evening and fifth of the season to restore the Warriors' two-goal advantage at 3-1.
The Warriors continued to create opportunities after the goal. Flores forced Marin into a save in the 70th minute before Tizoc put an attempt on frame less than a minute later.
Emmanuel Duran also forced Marin into a save in the 74th minute.
Hawaii Pacific pulled within 3-2 at the 75:58 mark when Takara converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the evening.
Stan State remained in front until the final seconds. Hawaii Pacific earned a corner kick with 29 seconds remaining before Arguijo scored off an assist from Pedro Ashley at the 89:42 mark to tie the match at 3-3.
The Warriors finished with an 18-12 advantage in shots, including a 12-5 margin in the second half. Stan State held an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
