CERES, Calif.--- Jackson Oliveira finished second overall and was the top collegiate finisher while Mason Oliveira placed fourth to lead the Stan State men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Kim Duyst Twilight Saturday evening at River Oaks Golf Course. The Warriors were the top NCAA Division II team in the 10-team field.

The Warriors scored 51 points, finishing just two points behind runner-up CSUN and 10 behind team champion UC Santa Barbara. Stan State placed three runners among the top 12 overall and four in the top 25.

Jackson Oliveira paced the Warriors over the 8K course with a time of 24:05.5. He finished behind only unattached runner Emmanuel Leblond, who captured the individual title in 23:48.0. Oliveira was the first collegiate runner across the finish line.

Mason Oliveira gave Stan State two of the first four finishers, crossing the line fourth overall in 24:29.6. Gurdave Pandher was the Warriors' third finisher, placing 12th overall in 24:52.1.
Saturday marked the second consecutive race in which twin brothers Jackson and Mason Oliveira were the first two Warriors across the finish line. Jackson also led Stan State at the season-opening USF Invitational, placing 11th in 24:30.0, while Mason finished 30th in 25:00.9.

Quentin Clarke finished 24th in 25:22.4, while Tanner Gerhart completed Stan State's scoring five with a 29th-place finish in 25:35.8. Jace Campos followed one spot behind Gerhart in 30th with a time of 25:38.1.
Larson Wejmar placed 34th in 25:54.2. Austin Hein finished 51st in 26:13.4, followed immediately by Patricio Kearney in 52nd at 26:13.7.

Andrew Morales finished 73rd in 27:06.2, Jason Arriaza was 76th in 27:19.5 and Diego Cisneros placed 77th in 27:24.7. Julian Hernandez rounded out the Stan State finishers, placing 81st in 27:31.0.

UC Santa Barbara captured the team title with 41 points, followed by CSUN with 49 and Stan State with 51. As the top NCAA Division II finisher, the Warriors finished ahead of fellow Division II programs San Francisco State and Dominican. UC Santa Cruz placed fourth overall with 136 points, followed by UC Merced with 143.

Stan State will have nearly a month away from competition before returning to San Francisco on Friday, Oct. 9, for the San Francisco State Invitational at Speedway Meadows. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be the Warriors' final competition before the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 7 in San Bernardino.
