SAN BERNARDINO -- It has now became a familiar story. The Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer team suffered more "bad luck" as they played well enough to win but could not find the back of the net in another scoreless tie -- this time against Cal State San Bernardino, on Sunday. Kyle Beck appeared to have won the game in the first overtime, but his goal was erased on a controversial offsides call, as the Warriors have to settle for the tie to go 0-1-1 on the road trip. CSUS is 2-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association heading into a busy week at home. Cal State San Bernardino is 2-7-2, 0-4-2 CCAA. "It's very unfortunate that we didn't get the result we wanted today. We certainly played well enough to win," head coach Eric Mild said. Beck made the starting lineup today as Mild made some changes to spark some offense. Beck responded with a great game in leading the team with four shots on the day. Beck also had a chance to win the match with about 25 seconds left to play in regulation, however, his shot set up by a Thomas Janz long ball hit the cross bar. Sunday's overtime match the Warriors' fourth overtime match of the season, their second straight. CSUS is now 0-2-2 in OT matches. Warriors goalkeeper Mando Herrera recorded his fifth shutout of the season and made a couple spectacular saves among the six shots on goal he stopped. Coyotes keeper Lucas Pepi also blanked the Warriors, making five saves over four periods of play. Both men were adept at intercepting crossing passes in the box. The Warriors will face Chico State Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Warrior Soccer Field before taking on Cal State L.A. on Friday. Stanislaus also hosts Western Washington in a non-conference match on Monday.
