TURLOCK — For the eighth time this season, the Warriors men's soccer team was on the wrong side of a close match as Chico State defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 1-0, at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex on Friday.
Zac Crim's ninth goal of the season in the 68th minute of the match was all the Wildcats needed as the visitors held on to the narrow win to improve to 12-4 overall and 8-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. With the win, Chico State remains in the hunt for a spot in the conference tournament.
The Warriors once again played well and show resilience before coming up short in dropping to 3-11-1 overall and 2-10 in the CCAA. The loss is the team's eighth one-goal loss this season. Stanislaus has now lost 17 one-goal matches in two seasons.
Crim's goal came at 67:54 in the second half that was set up by a free kick by Kyle Crain. Crain's pass went to the right side to Adam Raish who crossed it to the far side and found Crim for the finish.
Javier Rosales played a strong match in front of the net and picked up for saves for the Warriors.
The match was the team's final contest at home as the Warriors will complete the season with road matches at Sonoma State and Humboldt State. Cal State Stanislaus will move back on campus and play its home games at the Student Recreation Complex Stadium next season.
