SAN FRANCISCO -- Five players were in double digits in scoring as the Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team opened the 2008-09 campaign with a rout over Academy of Art, 101-80, Tuesday night at Kezar Pavilion.
Matt Ibewiro had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way as the Warriors beat the Urban Knights in their first ever contest.
Casey Cutts and
Chris Hayes each had 15 points and
Benny Koochoie had 14.
Michael Dyson added 12.
Chris Teevan had 8 assists.
The Warriors were hot in the first half connecting on 57 percent of their shots and built a 60-33 halftime lead. They were 9 for 13 from behind the arch in the first half. Koochoie was 4-for-6 and Cutts 3-for-3 from the three-point line.
Weleh Dennis had 18 points to lead Academy of Art.
The Warriors open the home season Thursday night with homecoming game against William Jessup. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
