ROHNERT PARK -- Jen Gee had a career high with 15 kills and Lianne Vicchio turned in her first career double-double but the Warriors dropped to Northwest Nazarene in straight sets, 25-20, 28-26, 25-22.

The match, Cal State Stanislaus' second of the day, was the team's first two to start the 2008 season. CSUS lost a four-set match earlier on the day to Seattle Pacific.

Following her strong servicing game in match one, Gee, a sophomore from Lodi, turned to the offensive game to put up 15 kills on 39 attempts. Also contributing was freshman Vicchio who had 13 kills and 13 digs. Libero Amanda Pielstick had 21 digs for Stanislaus.

Setters Colleen Sullivan and Nicki Brown split time to collect 22 and 12 assists, respectively. Megan Loghry chipped in seven kills for the Warriors giving her 15 for the day.

CSUS head coach Chris Lore was pleased with her team's first-day performance against two tough teams.

"I am please with the team's play," Lore said. "Our outsides stepped it up today. Jen and Lianne are both averaging better than three kills a game. It is a good start of our young team. Tomorrow's our day."

Of the 10 players available on Friday, nine of them are sophomores and freshmen. At one point in the match the Warriors had four freshmen on the court. The team is also without starters Megan Britton (mild concussion) and Karly Penton (back).

Gee had tied a tournament record with five aces in the morning match against Seattle Pacific to go with her team-best 11 kills. Vicchio had 10 kills and 8 digs earlier to total 23 kills and 21 digs for the day. freshman Victoria Costa also had a nice debut with 13 kills in two matches.

The Warriors will take on Notre Dame de Namur and Montana State-Billings on Saturday as the tournament continues.
