Warriors improve to 3-0 with win over Bethany

ATHERTON -- Two Warrior big men dominated the post and the Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team cruised to another big victory against a NAIA program.

Matt Ibewiro had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Frank Monge scored 13 points and pulled seven boards as the Warriors beat Bethany 85-53 to open the Lamont Ramsey Classic.

Stanislaus improved to 3-0 on the season and will play tournament host Menlo College at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Warriors scored the first eight points of the game and led 24-4 just more than 10 minutes into action.

Bethany pulled within 12 points just before halftime, but CSU Stanislaus netted the final four points of the first half and first 10 points of the second to put the game well out of reach at 52-26. The final margin was the largest of the game.

The Warriors dominated the boards as they outrebounded the Bruins 46-28.

Jordan Stokes, the Warriors' scoring leader, posted another 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Prince Abidoye and Chad Johnson each had seven points with Dwight Jones and Casey Cutts each added six. All 14 Warriors played and scored.

James Jensen led eight Bethany scorers with eight points. Tauran Moore, Ron Houston, and Micah Jones each netted seven points.
