Dyson continues hot streak, leads Warriors to OT win over Chico State

CHICO -- The Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team rallied from a 11-point deficit and limited Chico State to just four overtime points as the Warriors beat the Wildcats in Chico, 74-67, Wednesday night.

Michael Dyson continues his hot streak, pouring in 23 points to help the Warriors snap a six-game skid. Cal State Stanislaus heads into Friday's season finale against UC San Diego at home with 7-17 overall and 3-16 California Collegiate Athletic Association records.

Chico State got 31 points from Andy Bocian in the loss and falls to 7-19 overall and 4-15 in conference play.

Warrior senior Chris Hayes scored 15 points and Matt Ibewiro chipped in 10 points with seven rebounds. Dyson also had a game-best nine rebounds.

Chico State turned a 23-21 halftime lead into a 11-point advantage five minutes into the second half on two Zach Graves buckets. Stanislaus, however, kept close and rallied late.

The Wildcats would maintain a slim lead until Bocian fouled Dyson with two seconds left with Chico leading 63-61. Dyson calmly sank two free throws to send the game into overtime.

In the extra period, Chico State managed just four points while Dyson's final basket of the night gave the Warriors a 70-67 lead with a minute to play.

Ibewiro would make two free throws and ended the game with a slam dunk with seconds left to put away Chico State.

As a team, the Warriors shot well netting a 46.9 percentage from the field.

The Warriors host UC San Diego Friday on senior night in Turlock to close out the season.
