TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis team swept through the single matches after taking two of three doubles matches to pick up its first dual match victory. The Warriors easily handled visiting Cal State San Bernardino, 8-1, in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.

The Warriors, ranked No. 22 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, are now 1-1 overall and 1-1 in CCAA play while the Coyotes dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the CCAA. Stanislaus is also ranked third in the West.

The day started with a couple of wins in doubles competition. Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng put-away San Bernardino's top team of Leslie Horn and Brittany Choate, 8-1. At No. 2 doubles, Vanesa Reibstein and Brianna McClintock also took cared of the Coyotes, 8-2.

Preikschas and Eng are now 3-0 as a No. 1 doubles team this season, including a 2-0 record in CCAA play.

Reibstein and Eng had little trouble putting away their opponents at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, each winning 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 singles, Preikschas picked up her second consecutive win with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Leslie Horn. At No. 6, Warrior freshman Heather Cotter won in two sets over Kara Jenkins, 6-3, 6-0.

At the No. 4 position, Lexy Harrington won the first set 6-0 against Dottie Elwell but dropped the second, 4-6. Harrington eventually pushed and won the super tiebreak 10-8. McClintock's match at No. 5 also went three with McClintock winning the third set 13-11.

Cal State Stanislaus will take a break from conference place this week and will host Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. for a non-conference match.
