HOW THE TOURNAMENT ROOKIES GOT HERE

The Warriors qualified for CCAA Basketball Championship Tournament for the first time in the tournament's second year. Cal State Stanislaus finished in a three-way tie for sixth place in the conference with a 8-12 record. San Francisco State won the tiebreaker to receive the No. 6 seed. San Francisco State was 3-1 against the tied teams, while Cal State Stanislaus was 2-2 and Cal State San Bernardino 1-3.

NEW TO THE POSTSEASON

Cal State Stanislaus has not played after the conclusion of the regular season since 2003 when the Warriors qualified for the NCAA West Regional tournament at end of the 2002-03 season. During head coach Sharon Turner-Dean's first year, the Warriors finished second in the CCAA (15-7) and 18-10 overall and lost to Cal State Bakersfield in the first round game, 116-106 in overtime.

AGAINST THE LUMBERJACKS
Cal State Stanislaus is 0-2 against Humboldt State this season with Humboldt State winning 72-61 on Jan. 10 in Turlock and 77-43 on Feb. 13 in Arcata … Cal State Stanislaus holds a 27-24 all-time record over HSU but the Lumberjacks are 6-0 against the Warriors since joining the CCAA in 2006-07.

CCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The CCAA women's basketball championships tournament returns this week with the top eight teams qualifying for the conference's postseason tournament. The first round games will be played on Tuesday on campus sites. The semifinals and finals will be played this weekend at San Bernardino's Coussoulis Arena. The winner of the tournament would receive the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.

LYSANDRA FLYING HIGH

Poised to finish her career on a high note, senior Lysandra Williams is picking up the scoring by the bunches again of late. Williams has scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games, including 23 on Senior Night Friday against UC San Diego. Williams had four 20-point games this season and has tallied 18 double-digit scoring games …in the last five games, she has scored 85 points, boosting her season-average to 12.6 points per game. Williams now has 1,228 career points, third best at CSUS all-time.

BUSI STUFFS SHOTS
Katie Busi leads the CCAA in blocked shots with 63 and blocked shots per game with 2.3 per game … she set a new single season record with her 54th block this season on Feb. 14 at Sonoma State … Now with 93 in her career, it will just be a matter of time for Busi to surpass the career mark of 101 set by Shavaki Jackson (2003-05).

SCORING DUO

Both Lysandra Williams and Katie Busi are among the top scorers in the CCAA during conference play. Busi is ninth in scoring with 13.1 points per game and Williams is 11th with 12.9 points per game.

ALL-CCAA STATS
Sophomore Katie Busi should have a very strong case for All-CCAA honors as she is among the conference leaders in a number of statistical categories. Aside from being the top blocker and ninth-best scorer, Busi is fifth in rebounding (8.3 rpg), ninth in offensive rebounds (2.3 rpg) and third in defensive rebounds (6.0 rpg).

SOPHOMORE ALREADY IN THE BOOKS

Despite being just a sophomore, Katie Busi has already put herself in the CSUS record books and top 10 lists. She owns the blocked shots in a season mark and is second in blocks in a career. Busi scored 35 points in a game against Cal State San Bernardino earlier this year, which is tied fourth best with only one other player to have ever scored more points in a game (Shannon Donnelly did it four times) … Busi is also on some of the rebounding lists.

PROMISING UNDERCLASSMEN
Besides Katie Busi, there are a number of underclassmen showing promise for the program's future. Sophomores Jeanette Rowe (19 starts) and Christin Gowan (team-leading 58 assists) and true freshman Samantha Bertomen (13 minutes per game) all contributed greatly in 2008-09.

MISSING A PAGE
Senior Gwendolyn Page has not played since Jan. 31 and will not be available for the rest of the season due to a death in the family. She has not returned to the team since her father's passing on Feb. 8.

BLOCK PARTY AT LUMBERJACK ARENA
There just might be a block party Tuesday night when the Warriors meet Humboldt State as the two teams are 1-2 in the CCAA in blocked shots. Humboldt State leads the CCAA with 4.4 blocks per game and the Warriors are second at 3.8 per game.

TEAM BLOCKS RECORD COULD FALL

As a team, the Warriors are on the verge of setting the blocked-shots record. Currently with 123, the Warriors need just two more to break the old mark of 124 set in 1976-77.

LETS HOPE FOR MORE SCORING
Five times this season the Warriors scored 45 points or fewer in a game and three of those low-scoring games came during the month of February. The season low was 35 — and the Warriors beat Sonoma State 35-31 on Feb. 14. Stanislaus has also scored 45, 43 twice and 36 in games.

HEAD COACH TURNER-DEAN
Sharon Turner-Dean is in her seventh season as the head coach of the Warriors. She is just the fifth head coach in the history of CSUS women's basketball. Since becoming the head coach in 2002, Turner-Dean has posted an overall record of 65-123. In her first season, in 2002-03, the Warriors went 18-10 and tied for second in the CCAA with a 15-7 record. The Warriors advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1991 before losing to Cal State Bakersfield in the first round …her husband Gary is her assistant coach and her son Allen is the team manager.

IN TURNER-DEAN'S OWN WORDS

On qualifying and playing in the CCAA Tournament: “We are excited about going to tournament. It's hard to beat a team twice and it's really hard to beat a team three times. We don't have much (postseason) experience, but we have to start somewhere to get our program turned around.”

On her team's attitude going into the postseason: “We have such position energy and everybody really wants to win. That's why the last game didn't hurt as much. It's nice to be playing in the postseason.”
