LA JOLLA -- UC San Diego ran its consecutive conference matches won to 57 straight, but the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors once again challenged the five-time defending champions.
In the end, the Tritons took the dual match, 6-3, on the campus of UC San Diego, to improve to 10-3 overall and 7-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. UCSD enters the week ranked No. 14 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Verena Preikschas and
Katie Eng again were the stars for the Warriors (2-2, 1-2 CCAA) as the duo won the No. 1 doubles match. Preikschas and Eng remain undefeated at No. 1 improving to 5-0 on the season. Preikschas and Eng beat UCSD's top team, Ina Dan and Taskeen Bains, for the second time this season.
Preikschas also won her No. 1 singles match defeating Natalie Varnay, 6-1, 6-0. Preikschas is now 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the CCAA.
Eng also won her No. 3 singles match with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over CCAA player of the week Anita Athavale.
