LOS ANGELES — The Warriors women's tennis team nearly made it a sweep over Cal State L.A. on Tuesday as they defeated the Golden Eagles, 8-1, for their seventh consecutive victory and improved to 9-2 overall and 6-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Warriors have just two more conference matches remaining with matches against Sonoma State and Cal Poly Pomona.

Once again, the Warriors were led by Verena Preikschas, Katie Eng, Vanesa Reibstein and Brianna McClintock. Preikschas and Eng took the No. 1 doubles spot over Bojana Ducanovic and Adriana Espinosa, 8-2, to improve to 12-0 this season as a duo. They are now 8-0 at No. 1 doubles during CCAA play. Reibstein and McClintock won at No. 2 doubles with an 8-3 win over Lana Lamesic and Marine Prevost.

Heather Cotter and Lexy Harrington teamed-up at No. 3 to beat Jennifer Chung and Joyce Librando, 8-2, for a Warriors sweep during doubles competition.

In singles action, Prevost prevented a Stanislaus sweep with a win at No. 4, but Lexy Harrington battled Prevost until the end as the pair went to super-tiebreaker in the third set before L.A.'s player pulled out an 11-9 win. The same went for Eng at No. 2 after Lamesic tied the match in the second set forcing a third. Eng held on and prevailed 11-9.

Preikschas also stayed undefeated in CCAA play at No. 1 singles to improve to 8-0 while Eng is now 7-1. Reibstein improved to 7-0 at No. 3 as she disposed Espinosa, 7-5, 6-2.

McClintock won at No. 5 and Cotter easily beat Chung, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6.
