Tennis wins fifth straight, defeats Cal State L.A.

TURLOCK — The Warriors swept doubles competition and won four of six singles matches as No. 20 Cal State Stanislaus defeated Cal State L.A, 7-2, on Saturday.

With their fifth straight win, the Warriors improved to 5-4 overall and 5-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Vanesa Reibstein won both of her matches, including a 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to lead the Warriors as they keep pace with CCAA leader UC San Diego (4-0 in conference play).

The Warriors won all three doubles matches with Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng improving to 6-0 in conference play with a 8-2 win over L.A.'s top duo Dora Kiss and Linda Majzlikova. Reibstein teamed with Brianna McClintock at No. 2 doubles for a win. Arina Polovnikova and Heather Cotter also won at No. 3.

Reibstein, Polovnikova, Cotter and Erin McGurty all won their singles matches on Saturday. Cal State L.A.'s No. 1 singles player Dora Kiss edged Preikschas, 6-3, 7-5 with Preikschas nursing a foot injury.
