TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus wrapped up a perfect week, winning all three matches, and extended its winning streak to four as the Warriors defeated Sonoma State, 7-2.

The 20th ranked Warriors improved to 4-4 overall and 4-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. During the week they beat Cal State San Bernardino twice before today's victory over the visiting #45 Seaswolves (4-4, 1-3 CCAA).

The match lasted four hours and 20 minutes, largely due to the No. 6 singles match-up between Erin McGurty and Sonoma State's Jessica Harris. The match was finally decided on a third-set super tiebreaker with Harris winning 10-5. Harris won the first set in tiebreaker (8-6), but McGurty rallied back to shutout Harris in the second.

However, the team scoring was long decided -- more than 80 minutes earlier -- with the Warriors dominating play. Stanislaus handled the Seawolves in doubles competition winning 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, with Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng, and 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, with Arina Polovnikova and Vanesa Reibstein.

Preikschas and Eng improved to 7-3 on the year and 5-0 during CCAA play with a five-match winning streak. Polovnikova and Reibstein are now 4-1 during conference play.

During singles play, Preikschas blanked Stephanie Luk, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Preikschas won all three of her singles matches this week by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

At No. 2 Reibstein took cared of Haley Hickock, 6-0, 6-2 to improve to 5-0 in CCAA action. Eng, CCAA player of the week, defeated Jeanette Peck, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3. No. 4 Polovnikova defeated Molly Maguire, 6-1, 6-2. Heather Cotter then finished off Stephanie Hoffmire, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Cal State Stanislaus will now have some time off before its next match, which is scheduled for March 27 versus Cal State L.A. in Turlock.
