Box Score

TURLOCK -- Two Warriors scored more than 20 points each, and came as close as a couple of points, but ultimately San Francisco State held on to beat Cal State Stanislaus, 73-68, Saturday night.

Dwight Jones had a career-high of 22 points and Evan Scott was 8-for-8 from the floor for 20 points. Cal State Stanislaus, however, fell to 6-10 overall and 4-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Winston Demmin led the Gators with 22 points and seven rebounds and San Francisco State continues its climb up the ladder in the CCAA, now with a 8-4 conference record (10-6 overall).

Reggie Jones chipped in 17 points, but unfortunately for the Warriors the only other scorer was Marcus Lever with six.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Cal State Stanislaus's Reggie Jones and Scott gave the Warriors a brief lead, 50-49, at 11:11 to play in the second half. But that was the last time the Warriors saw a lead. San Francisco State used an 8-0 run during a three-point stretch for a 57-50 lead after a pair of Phoenix O'Rourke free throws.

The Gators led by nine as late as with three minutes to go, but Stanislaus rallied again and cut it down to two at 66-64. But SFSU converted on some free throws to close it out.

Dwight Jones, who made some uncontested layups in the final seconds, made 12 of his 13 free-throw attempts. He also had three steals to his totals.

For the game, the Warriors shot a clean 50 percent -- their third straight game when they made half of their shots or better.

Nefi Perdomo scored 13 points and O'Rourke finished with 10 to pace San Francisco State.

The four-game homestand continues next weekend when Stanislaus hosts Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills
