TURLOCK -- The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team recovered from a sluggish game as the Warriors held-off San Francisco State for a 56-50 win Saturday night.
Theresa Henderson had a career-high 17 points to lead the Warriors as they snapped a four-game skid to even their records to 8-8 overall and 6-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
"We will obviously take the win. One of the good things is that we show some resilience and came back. Our players themselves were upset of how poor we were playing," said head coach Sharon Turner.
Jeanette Rowe chipped in 11 points with six rebounds and
Katie Busi, who was limited offensively for most of the night, finished with 10 points and eight rebounds and a career best seven blocked-shots.
San Francisco State, now 1-15 overall and 1-11 in the CCAA, was led by Dominique Hunter with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Gators took early control of the game and did not let up in the first half until a three-pointer by
Jeanette Rowe at 2:10 brought the Warriors their first lead of the game.
In a game that was tied eight times, the Warriors finally took control of the game after a lay-up by
Christin Gowan at 3:28 that gave the Warriors their final lead en route to the victory.
Henderson scored nine of points in the first half, carrying the team offensively. She was 4-for-7 from the field in the first half, with the rest of them 8-for-20. Rowe also had a nice first half, going 3-for-3 with two three-pointers for eight points.
"She played well offensively, we know she has the physical skills and is just adjusting to playing at this level," added Turner of Henderson.
Gators, Michaela Booker shot 5-for-11 from the floor with a total of 11 points , all of them in the first half.
Warriors return to the court next weekend with home against Cal State L.A. Friday night and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday. Tip-off at 7:30 p.m. both nights
