The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team will hit the road again this week. This time the Warriors will travel North on the 101 to take on Sonoma State and Humboldt State.

Series Notes: Since the Warriors joined the CCAA in 1998, Sonoma State leads this series 16-9 with Stanislaus winning twice last year.
Last Time We Met... was on Feb. 5, 2011, in Rohnert Park. Cal State Stanislaus won 59-53 to sweep the season series …
Katie Busi had 17 points and 12 rebounds in that game. Aly Conway had 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead SSU.
About the Seawolves: Sonoma State has lost three straight, including a pair of setbacks in the Northwest (vs. Seattle Pacific and Western Washington) … Travis Newman leads SSU averaging 9.3 points per game with eight total three-pointers … The Seawolves averages just 57.5 points per game.

at Humboldt State Lumberjacks (6-1, 2-1 CCAA)
Series Notes: After the long history between the two former NCAC foes, the Lumberjacks now lead the series 8-2 since joining the CCAA in 2006. The teams split last year each winning home games.
Last Time We Met... was on Feb. 3, 2011, in Arcata. HSU won 85-80 despite 21 points from Warrior

About the Lumberjacks: The Lumberjacks are off to a 6-1 start this season with their only loss a 7-point decision at Cal State Monterey Bay … Their last game before this weekend was on Dec. 10, a 77-63 win versus Western Oregon … Lisa Petty leads the team with 13.0 points per game with Whitney Howard chipping in 12.6 per contests. Bree Halsey averages 8 rebounds per clip.
The CCAA/PacWest Shootout
The Warriors went 1-1 at the CCAA/PacWest Shootout at San Francisco State.
Theresa Henderson was named to the All-Tournament team.
Last Week's Games
Despite 24 points from
Theresa Henderson, the Warriors lost to No. 17 Grand Canyon, 81-52, in a CCAA/PacWest Shootout game. The Warriors, however, rebounded from that defeat with a 71-69 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday.
Henderson Leads CCAA
Teresa Henderson continues to put up big scoring numbers as the senior scored 43 more points in two games on the road last week. She still leads the California Collegiate Athletic Association in scoring with 19.6 points per games overall … She is also tied for first in rebounding with 9.3 per game and tied for second in defensive rebounding with 6.3 per contest.
Henderson CCAA Player of the Week
For the first time in her career,
Theresa Henderson was named CCAA player of the week following her performance last weekend. She averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.
Another Career Game
Theresa Henderson turned in another career-best performance on Friday. She scored 24 points for a career-high on 11 of 26 shooting … Henderson then followed it with her fourth double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds on Saturday against Notre Dame de Namur.
Terrell Provides Scoring Help
Senior guard
Jameiz Terrell provided some much-needed scring help on Saturday as she tied her career-best with 16 points to help the Warriors win. Terrell's jumper with 1:04 left to play turned out to be key to the Warriors' narrow victory … Terrell is now second on the team in scoring with 11.9 per game and has the best three-point field goal percent of .481 (13-for-27), which is third-best in the CCAA.
Struggles Continued Away From Home
Traditionally, Stanislaus teams have not fared well on the road during the CCAA season and the 2011-12 squad is 0-2 on the road this season. Since joining the CCAA in 1998, the Warriors are 34-83 in conference road games (38-98 overall).
Go-To Players
Three Warriors are among the top 10 in the conference in average minutes played per game. The go-to Warriors are
Theresa Henderson (32.6 minutes per game), Jamiez Terrell (32.4) and
Lauren Godde (31.6). All three players have started in every game this season.
Still Being Out-Rebounded
Rebounding continues to be an area for the team to improve on as the Warriors were again out-rebounded in two games last weekend. Grand Canyon had a 44-28 advantage and Notre Dame de Namur out-boarded CSUS, 53-33 (weekend total: 97-61) … For the season, the Warriors are out-rebounded 41-34 on average, per game.
Handling the Rock Better
Cal State Stanislaus handled the ball much better this past weekend after turning the ball over 40 times during the first road trip (CPP & SF State). The Warriors had fewer turnovers than both opponents at the tournament. GCU had 16 to 15 and Notre Dame de Namur committed 26 TOs (to CSUS's 11) for a total count of 42 to 26.
Head Coach Sharon Turner
Sharon Turner entered her 10th season as the Warriors' head coach with a career record of 88-154. In her first season, in 2004-05, she led the Warriors to an NCAA Tournament apperance. In 2008-09, the Warriors qualified for the CCAA Championship tournament for the first time. She has taken the Warriors to the CCAA Championship tournament two out of the last three years (missing the turnament in 2010 due to tiebreakers). Last year was her most successful conference season since 2002-03 as the Warriors posted an 11-11 CCAA mark.
Fitzpatrick Arena
Warrior Arena was renamed Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena at the start the 2010-11 season. The arena is named for Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick, owners of Valley Lexus/Valley BMW in Modesto and other car dealerships in the Bay Area. The Fitzpatricks have been long-time supporters of CSU Stanislaus. The gym has been named Warrior Arena since 1999, 21 years after it was built.
CCAA Preseason Coaches Poll
After making the tournament for the second time in the three years, the Warriors start the 2011-12 campaign low on the coaches radar. In a vote of the conference's head coaches, the Warriors were predicted to finish 11th in 2011-12.
CCAA Basketball Championships
The 2012 CCAA Men's & Women's Basketball Championship tournament will be held at the beginning of March. Eight teams qualify for the event with first round games on campus site Feb. 28. The four winners will advance to the semifinals and finals, March 2-3, in La Jolla on the campus of UC San Diego. The winner of the tournament would receive the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.
