LAS VEGAS — In their third match against national powerhouse programs in as many days, the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors nearly pulled off an upset before falling to No. 7 Hawaii Pacific, 5-4, on Wednesday.

The 21st ranked Warriors women's tennis team challenged three teams ranked in the top 7 this week in Las Vegas to some positive results before ending the trip 0-3.

Wednesday's narrow lost to Hawaii Pacific was a heartbreaker as it was against an in-region opponent in closely contested matches.

Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng won their second doubles match in a row, this time a 8-5 smash over HPU's Zora Vickova and Celina Goetti. The Warrior duo was coming off a win over a pair from the top ranked Armstrong Atlantic State team on Tuesday.

Vickova and Goetti had beaten the top ranked doubles team in NCAA Division II of Barbora Krtickova and Alida Muller-Wehlau from AASU Tuesday.

At No. 2 doubles, Vanesa Reibstein and McKenzy Harden were also winners with an 8-5 win over Maria Fagerstrom and Sandra Wikstrom.

Preikschas and Reibstein also earned wins in singles play. Preikschas won her No. 1 single match 6-1, 6-0, to improve to 7-4 on the season. Reibstein won at No. 3 singles, beating Florie Paguay, 7-5, 6-4.

Cal State Stanislaus took on No. 5 West Florida, 7-2, on Monday before losing to three-time defending champion No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic State, 8-1, on Tuesday.

Weather permitting, the Warriors are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, at home, against Sonoma State. The match against the Seawolves is scheduled for Noon at CSUS Tennis Courts.
