CARSON — Last season the Warriors ended a long losing streak to Cal State Dominguez Hills. Now they are building a winning streak after defeating the 14th ranked Toros on Sunday — on the road, at the unfriendly Toro Stadium.

Three different Warriors scored goals with Karenee Demery assisting on two of them as Cal State Stanislaus upended Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-1. The win is the program's second straight over CSUDH after going 0-for-17 prior to the 2010 season. The win is also CSUS's first in Carson.

With Sunday's victory, the No. 23 ranked Warriors return home with an undefeated road trip. They are now 4-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Stanislaus tied Cal State L.A., 1-1, on Friday.

"To come down south and get a win and a tie against quality teams like (Cal State) L.A. and (Cal State) Dominguez Hills speaks volume about the quality of our team and where our program is going. I'm very proud," said Warriors head coach Gabriel Bolton.

The loss is the Toros' second consecutive after receiving the No. 14 ranking from the NSCAA earlier in the week. Dominguez Hills lost to Chico State, 3-1, on Friday.

Alexia Poon netted her fourth goal of the season in the 24th minute to get the Warriors on the board. She received a cross from Demery on a pass from Allison Case to put Stanislaus ahead.

Just six minutes later, Liz Scherrer gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Demery assisted on the score again, this time at 29:42.

"The first few minutes of the game we were back on our heals a bit but we battled hard and started to turn the game. After the first goal we really took it to another level," Bolton added. "We scored some great goals today and were very solid defensively."

In the 62nd minute, freshman Karli Nestler scored her first collegiate goal to give the Warriors a commanding 3-0 lead. Emily Relles had sent a free kick into the box on the play for the assist.

Cal State Dominguez Hills got one past CSUS goalkeeper Millie Brown in the 66th minute. Jessica Murphy scored her fourth goal of the year for the Toros.

CSUDH goalie Tiffany Hollis, who was the CCAA's women's soccer player of the week after recording two shutouts, suffered the loss. She gave up three goals on eight credited shots (seven on goal) by the Warriors. Hollis had four saves.

Brown faced seven shots on goal and picked up six saves in the win.
