Box Score SEASIDE — The prolific shooting touch of the Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team is back. Three Warriors scored in double figures as they defeated Cal State Monterey Bay, 70-52, Friday night.
Dan Daviess notched a career-high with 18 points,
Reggie Jones knocked in 13 points and pull seven rebounds, and
Ronnie Sawyer chipped in 11 as the Warriors win on the road at the Kelp Bed.
Cal State Stanislaus, now winners of two in-a-row, picked up its 10th victory of the season and improved to 10-5 overall and 6-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Cal State Monterey Bay falls to 2-12 overall and 1-9 in CCAA play.
Led by Daviess, the Warriors rolled out to early first half lead and never looked back. Daviess' three-pointer with 38 seconds left until halftime gave Stanislaus a 17-point, 43-26, lead at the break. Daviess scored 13 of his points in the first half.
For the game, Stanislaus shot 49 percent -- its best shooting night in six games (since Dec. 29 versus Dominican). From beyond the arch, the Warriors were 9-for-22 for 40.9 percent.
Daviess nailed four of those treys for his career-high, tying his personal best. The senior guard was also 6-for-6 from the foul line and dished three assists.
Brett Sayad pulled seven rebounds to help with the Stanislaus efforts off the glass.
Frank Monge also enjoyed one of his better games this season offensively, going 4-for-6 for six points.
Cal State Stanislaus led by as many as 24 points with 7:29 left to play.
The Warriors will try and extend the current win-streak to three when they visit Cal State East Bay on Saturday. The game in Hayward will feature two of the top three scoring teams in the CCAA. The Warriors average 73.7 points per game (third in the CCAA) and the CSUEB Pioneers are second with 76.4 points per game.
