Cal State Stanislaus sophomore forward
Karenee Demery was honored on Jan. 14 in Kansas City by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) where she received her 2011 All-America First Team award.
As part of the NSCAA's annual convention, Demery was invited among other awards recipients to attend a special luncheon honoring this past season's best soccer athletes of all levels.
Demery became the first player in Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer history to be selected to the All-America first team. In 2011, Demery was instrumental in leading the Warriors to the 2011 CCAA Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, the program's first.
The Merced native led the Warriors with 16 goals, 11 assists, and 43 points. Demery was also named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District team for posting a 3.64 GPA as a biological sciences major. She was also a first-team All-CCAA and All-West Region selection after her sensational sophomore season.
In two seasons, Demery has amassed 87 points, 35 goals and 17 assists. As a freshman, Demery was named the CCAA's most valuable offensive layer and freshman of the year and ultimately a Daktronics All-American second team award.
