STOCKTON —
Verena Preikschas led the Warriors to two wins at No. 1 against Pacific before Cal State Stanislaus drop the 6-1 decision against the Division I program.
Preikschas and
Katie Eng battled in a grueling No. 1 doubles match and prevailed 8-7 (4) against the Tigers' top duo Julia Hansen and Iveta Masarova. Preikschas then won her singles match over Masarova with a solid effort, 6-2, 6-3.
The Warriors (1-1) earned a point in the singles win but not in double play per Division I scoring rules. The team with two doubles wins pick up one team point. UOP is now 4-4.
Eng played a tight match against her No. 3 counter part Susan Te before falling in the second set in tiebreakers, 6-3, 7-6 (4). At No. 6
Heather Cotter pushed Regina Suarez to a 7-5 score in her second set.
Cal State Stanislaus will be back in action next weekend with a pair of home matches. The Warriors host Dominican on Saturday and Academy of Art on Sunday.
