TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis team swept through all of its matches on Saturday with a convincing 9-0 win over Dominican.
The top matches of the day were the top doubles and No. 1 single matches as both team's top players squared off. In the longest doubles match of the day,
Verena Preikschas and
Katie Eng out-lasted Irina Morozova and Gaby Verspieren, 8-4. The Dominican duo entered the week with a regional ranking of No. 7 after the Fall season.
Picking up two more points during doubles play, Devina Meza and
Kelsey Chrisco beat Maria Ariana Paradis and Jamie Fernandez, 8-2 while
Heather Cotter and
McKenzy Harden blanked Jessica Curlett and Jobeth Pascual, 8-0.
In the No. 1 singles match,
Verena Preikschas, the nation's 15th ranked player defeated Dominican's No. 1 Morozvoa, 6-2, 6-2.
All five other Warriors won their singles matches in straight sets, including a 7-5, 6-3 win by
Lindsey West over Pascual.
